The 348 series is really the blueprint for all modern mid-engined Ferraris. After the transverse engined 308/328 series, the 348 was an all-new car for the 1990s. At the time it didn’t get a particularly positive reception with the motoring press, but the car sold well with over 8,800 produced between 1989 and 1994 and paved the way for the 355 that followed.
We have always liked the 348, with its mini-Testarossa looks. It has a Miami Vice retro cool about it that is right up our boulevard. We purchased this particular 348TS example in Italy in 2015 with only 58,000 kms on the clock.
Delivered new by Auto Becker in Germany in May 1991 and then subsequently serviced by Maranello Motors Gmbh and later Officine Foresi in Civitanova Marche in Italy, it had however seen little use since 2010. The manuals and service history are present with the car.
This car was in excellent, unmolested original condition, the temptation to uprate/update having been resisted and with all the interior detailing as good as it gets. But it was in need of the all-important cam belt service.
We entrusted this service to our friends at independent Ferrari Specialists Emblem Sports Cars in Poole and they carried out a complete, engine-out in-depth service of the car at the end of last year, since when it has covered only 100 miles. We took the opportunity to detail the engine bay and re-powder coat the cam covers while the engine was out and the bay now looks as fabulous as the rest of the car. At the end of the service Emblem felt that the car was a very nice example with no outstanding issues.
Since then, the car was chosen to be photographed for Auto Italia magazine as representative of the model and featured in their buyer’s guide in the May 2016 issue.
The car is now available for sale, ready to use. The private number plate is not included in the asking price but is available by separate negotiation.
